About the Percentage Calculator
Percentages come up in prices, marks, taxes and growth figures. This calculator handles the three questions people ask most: what is X% of a number, what percent one number is of another, and how much a value has risen or fallen in percent.
How to use it
- Pick the panel that matches your question.
- Type the two numbers. The answer updates as you type.
- Copy the result or change a number to compare another case.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I calculate a percentage increase?
- Subtract the old value from the new value, divide by the old value and multiply by 100. The percentage change panel does this for you.
- Can the starting value be zero?
- No. A change from zero cannot be expressed as a percentage, so the tool asks you to use a non-zero starting value.
